On Friday January 6, 2023, the process of issuing a technical certificate for the land registry was officially launched. This decision comes as part of the introduction of technology in the land services sector with the aim of speeding up services and making it easier for those who need to find them near them.
Electronic certificate of land registration (e-title) will be given to anyone who requested the service; either the person who registered the right to the land for the first time or the person who registered any change in the land registry, will be received by phone or computer without the need for the owner of the land to be issued on paper as before.
Inaugurating the event, the Director General and Treasurer of the Land Registry of the National Land Agency Mrs. Mukamana Espérance returned to the land reforms that have taken place since 2004 which led to the creation of land registration in the country and 'various activities that discussed the establishment of the technical certificate of land, said that "The technical certificate will have information similar to that found on the paper document, and this information comes from the land registry as usual. However, it will be seen by the land owner by phone or email".
The Director General continued saying that "from today the person requesting the service will not wait any longer, while the Treasurer of land owner has signed the document, he will immediately receive a message telling him that the service he requested has been received and will guide him on how to get his document".
The Minister of National Administration, Mr. Musabyimana Jean Claude, who was the chief guest at the ceremony, assured the assistance of the Ministry he directs and other agencies in speeding up land services and implementing new methods of using technology in these services. ”We are going to cooperate with the National Land Agency to carry out a campaign to explain this technology to the public; We want the "Byikorere" program to reach everywhere and for everyone, we ask the public to participate in the use of this technology because it makes it easier to get services in a fast and easy way"
Those who have received land documents will retain their validity until another service is requested, at which time they will receive a technical certificate that replaces the one they received. Only Kenyans are required to register on the website landinformation.lands.rw and follow the instructions. If you request the service, you will not be asked to register, but you will receive a message containing a link that will take you to the place where you can enter the land information number (UPI) or download your document. .
